This 30-acre park in South Dade has top-notch recreational amenities, including
a 400-meter track, a three-hole miniature golf course, baseball and softball fields,
three full-size basketball courts, four tennis courts and a 50-meter swimming pool.
The park's swimming pool is open from May through October and offers Learn-To-Swim
classes for children. There is also a recreation center, picnic tables and, an outdoor
patio and grills, available for party rentals. Goulds Park also offers after-school care and a sports development program for children ages 6 and up, from 2-5 PM, Monday through Friday. Of special interest is the new $2.3 million Goulds Park Gym. This 22,000 square-foot facility houses an indoor state-of-the-art basketball gym with retractable bleachers. There is also a reception area, administration space, restrooms and parking. Miami-Dade Commissioner Dennis Moss, in whose district the park lies, spear-headed the effort to build the gym as part of the community's recovery after Hurricane Andrew. The project was funded in part by the Miami-Dade County Office of Community and Economic Development and Safe Neighborhood Park Bonds. Future plans for the gym include the addition of two programming wings with space for meetings, additional administration offices, a fitness area, a game room and a storage room. |
