CLIO
- An email will be sent to each student with a CLIO invite. Click it to create a personal account
Assignment of Supervisor
- In the first class session supervisors will be assigned to each student
Spanish Speakers:
- In the fist class session an inquiring will be made to determine how many students are comfortable speaking conversational Spanish
Assignment of Transfer Cases
- After all students have created their CLIO accounts the supervisor will assign files being transfered from the previous semester (students will be notified by a CLIO generated email)
Intake
- After a service request a file is opened on CLIO
- The student sends a short email to the client saying that he or she would soon be called for an intake interview. The message should read:
- The student will then call the client to either directly conduct the intake interview or to schedule a convenient time for doing so. Setting up a zoom meeting is an option.
- INTAKE MEMO IN CLIO - a detailed "Intake Memo" casenote must be intered into ClinicClases following the initial client interview
Required Hours
- As per law school requirements, each student, over the course of the semester, must average working 14 hours per week on clinic activities (for a total of 196 hours for the entire semester).
- These hours must be posted on CLIO as either
- Client specific work: posted in the relevant client's CLIO file
-or-
- Non-client specific work: This includes homework, class attendance, supervision session, etc. Entered into CLIO using the "Quick Add" button in the "Home" tab.
- On average, at least 14 hours must be entered each week
Homework
- WEEKLY READING ASSIGNMENTS: - hyperlinked in the Syllabus
- WEEKLY WRITING ASSIGNMENTS: - Each assignment is hyperlinked in the Syllabus. The assignments consist of simple commonly used transactional documents
Uploading Copies of Emails to CLIO
- DON'T SAVE EMAILS AS SCREEN CAPTURES (jpg or png)
- From your email program open the email that is to be uploaded. Then "print" it to a PDF file (or, alternately, "save" as a PDF file). Then upload the resulting PDF to the "documents" section of the client's file on CLIO
- The PDF should look like an actual email and NOT like a document created on a word processor. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE:
- Before uploading such PDF files, rename them so as to make it easier to find then later. Include the date in that name. Example: "9-23-23 letter to client.pdf"
Grading policies
- A student's final grade will be depend how well he or she has meet the "Expectations" specified in the Clinic's Policy Manual
