Legal
Services of Greater Miami, Inc. (LSGMI) provides free civil legal
assistance to low income individuals. It serves over
450,000 potentially eligible individual clients who reside
Miami-Dade and Monroe
Counties. Each year approximately 25,000
households seek services from LSGMI in areas such housing, health care,
education, disability benefits, family issues, and
employment. LSGMI operates projects which target vulnerable
groups including children, people with AIDS, the elderly, the disabled,
and the homeless. LSGMI is the legal safety net which often
prevents homelessness and dependency on the welfare system.
LSGMI staff save clients' homes from foreclosure, keep children at home
with their parents and out of costly foster care, help people with AIDS
plan for the custodial rights of their children, assist victims of
fraud, and ensure an appropriate education for disabled children. |
| Equal
Access to Justice
is an inalienable right! Its the cornerstone of our democracy. But the harsh reality is that without an attorney, poor persons cannot access legal solutions to their civil problems. Legal Services of Greater Miami is a nonprofit, tax exempt organization providing free legal assistance to low income individuals. ![]() |
